Our Philosophy

At Coventry School, we want children to learn authentically, with a hands-on approach.  We believe children make stronger connections between the world and the classroom when they are touching, painting, creating, and constructing with real models.  Because we believe that development is not solely an internal force, our teachers promote assisted discovery.  They guild and nurture children's learning with prepared proper environments, explanations, and verbal prompts to facilitate their intellectual development.  We also arrange cooperative learning experiences by grouping students whose abilities differ to encourage children to teach one another.  Peer teaching not only enhances a child's sense of mastery and worth, but also facilitates cooperation, collaboration, and appreciation of others.  Each child is very special so we take a unique approach of low child-to-teacher ratio.  We value the optimum development of the whole child: social, emotional, cognitive, physical, creative, and moral.  We believe that the process of learning an the development of problem solving skills are more important than content mastery in the preschool years.  Through our curriculum, your child will explore the world around them and heighten their sense of autonomy, curiosity, imagination, and adventure.  We want to maximize your child's potential.  It is our goal for students to approach their next level of education with enthusiasm and confidence.
